Pakistani Fighter Jet Spotted Close To LoC In Poonch

Amid a spike in ceasefire violations and terror tunnels being detected along the borders, a Pakistani fighter jet flew very close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Monday morning.

“The pakistani fighter jets jet flew close to the LoC Line of control in Poonch sector in violation of international conventions which does not allow fighter jets to fly within a 10km radius of the border,” a defence spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that a jet stream was clearly visible in the sky close to the Line of control in Poonch. Recently, a few drones had been spotted near the Line of Control.

Jammu and Kashmir has recorded over 4,000 ceasefire violations by Pakistan so far this year, which is the highest in the past decade, compared to a total of 3,289 violations in 2019.

Violations are regularly highlighted to Pakistan through diplomatic channels and at the regular DGMO- (Director General of Military Operations) level talks. Asked about the possibility of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) blacklisting Pakistan for failing to check terror financing, the global anti-terror watchdog has laid out standards and procedures for such action.

Pakistani troops have resorted to more than 3,800 incidents of unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir this year and even supported smuggling of arms and narcotic substances including through drones and quadcopters, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)
