MKU Secured MRO Contracts from the Indian Air Force

In a significant boost to India’s defence indigenisation push, MKU Limited has secured a contract from the Indian Air Force for aircraft life extension work, marking a new milestone in its growing role in aerospace sustainment. This milestone positions MKU as the first private sector company in India to undertake lifecycle support services for operational military aircraft.

The contract focuses on enhancing the operational life of IAF aircraft through advanced protection and system upgrades. Such life-extension programs are critical for maintaining fleet readiness, especially as the Air Force continues to modernise while operating ageing platforms.

MKU, a Kanpur-based defence technology firm known for its expertise in optronics and platform protection will contribute solutions aimed at improving durability, survivability and overall mission effectiveness of aircraft.

The development aligns with the IAF’s broader strategy of extending the service life of existing fleets while integrating indigenous technologies. With several aircraft types undergoing upgrades and life-extension programs, these efforts are essential to sustain operational strength until next-generation platforms fully enter service.

Under these contracts, MKU will deliver comprehensive MRO services for critical aircraft assets operated by the Indian Air Force. The scope encompasses:

  •         Advanced structural assessments
  •         System-level repairs and diagnostics
  •         Full overhaul services
  •          Technology-driven maintenance protocols to reduce downtime and extend service life

This contract also reinforces MKU’s expanding footprint beyond soldier protection into high-value aerospace support, highlighting the increasing role of Indian private firms in critical defence maintenance and upgrade ecosystems.

Overall, the deal not only strengthens IAF’s long-term operational capability but also underscores India’s push towards self-reliance in defence technologies.
