Indian Army Inducts Indigenous Minefield-Marking Equipment

In a proud moment for India’s defence sector, the Indian Army has officially inducted the Mechanical Minefield Marking Equipment Mk-II, a cutting-edge innovation designed to enhance operational efficiency and safety on the battlefield.
Unveiled during a vibrant induction ceremony on August 11, this homegrown marvel, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured by BEML Limited, underscores the nation’s commitment to self-reliance under the Atmanirbharta initiative.
This semi-automated system, equipped to handle 500 pickets at a time, promises to minimize human exposure to dangerous minefields, a stark contrast to the labor-intensive methods of the past that often left soldiers vulnerable. For decades, manually marking minefields has been a perilous task, with historical data suggesting significant casualties due to human error and enemy action.

The Mk-II, however, brings a breath of fresh air, blending technology with the courage of the Corps of Engineers. It not only speeds up our operations but also keeps our soldiers safer, allowing them to focus on strategy rather than survival.
