Military Intelligence Uncovers Army Recruitment Scam In Maharashtra’s Nasik

Military Intelligence has exposed an Army recruitment scam in Maharashtra’s Nasik district. As many as four youngsters, including a mechanical engineer, were duped by the accused to the tune of Rs 15.25 lakh.

The recruitment scam accused had given the four youngsters false assurances of joining letters from the Indian Army.

Upon receiving information about two suspicious boys roaming outside Deolali cantonment near Nasik city, Military Intelligence personnel rushed to the spot. The duo was detained outside the main gate of the cantonment and spilled the beans following a brief interrogation.

Both of them told officials that they were staying at a lodge in Nasik along with two more youngsters. They further added that one Dutta Surve, a resident of Satara, had asked them to stay at a lodge in Nasik for a few days before they could receive their Indian Army joining letters.

The four boys hail from Nagpur city. One of them, a B-Tech graduate, revealed that Rs 10 lakh was demanded from him in exchange for the post of a Junior Engineer (JE) at Deolali Cantonment. The boy paid Rs 75,000 in cash and said he would pay the remaining amount after receiving the joining letter.

An amount of Rs 7 lakh each was demanded from the other three youngsters in exchange for a ‘group D’ post at the same cantonment. Undergraduates, the boys paid Rs 5.50 lakh to the accused through online transfer.

The four boys told officials that they were desperate to get a job in the lockdown period. One of them even mortgaged his mother’s gold ornaments while another dissolved the fixed deposit his father received after retiring from the CRPF.
