Non-Availability Of Bulletproof Vehicles: CRPF Probing Video Shared By Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: The Central Reserve Police Force is looking into the “authenticity” of a video, posted by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Twitter, in which some troops allege that they are being made to move for operational duties in a non-bulletproof vehicle. The jawans further allege that their commanding officer travels in a bulletproof vehicle but their lives were being compromised. They also accused the authorities of playing with their families’ lives.

The video forced CRPF to issue a statement with spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Moses Dhinakaran saying, “CRPF has adequate protective vehicles to meet varied operational requirements.”

He further said that the authenticity of the video is being probed into by CRPF. Sharing the video clip on his Twitter, Rahul Gandhi took a dig at Narendra Modi saying, “While jawans are traveling in non-bullet proof trucks an aircraft worth ₹ 8,400 crores is being arranged for the Prime Minister. Is this justice? CRPF is India’s leading internal security force which is deployed extensively for conducting anti-Naxal operations in various states and counter-terrorist operations in the Kashmir valley. India has bought two VVIP planes for travel of the President, Prime Minister, and Vice President and the first of the two Boeing B777 aircraft landed at the IGI Airport earlier this month.

‘Our lives are being compromised’

The aircraft, which was originally owned by Air India, will now be handed over to the Indian Air Force (IAF), which will use it to ferry the Prime Minister, the President, and the Vice President.

It has been specially retrofitted with the latest self-defense protection suite for VVIP transport duties such as Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures’. The plane initially served in the fleet of Air India in 2018 before being flown back to a Boeing facility in San Antonio, Texas, where it was fitted with the latest air defense protection technology, reported IANS. The Air Force One received the latest technology from Boeing under an India-US high-tech deal.
