Successfully Maiden Trials Of Brahmos From INS Delhi

India on Tuesday successfully test-fired a BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from INS Delhi for the first time from an upgraded modular launcher. Successful maiden BrahMos firing by INS Delhi from an upgraded modular launcher once again demonstrated long-range strike capability of BrahMos along with validation of integrated Network Centric Operations from frontline platforms, said Indian Navy. This firing is yet another shot in the arm for Aatma Nirbhar Bharat.

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force (IAF) also successfully test-fired a BrahMos supersonic missile from a Sukhoi fighter jet on the Eastern seaboard. During the test, the missile achieved a direct hit on the target, a decommissioned Indian Navy ship. The mission was undertaken in close coordination with the Indian navy.

The missile without a warhead created a hole in the abandoned ship. The missile travels at speeds around 3000 kmph & is difficult to intercept by air defence systems, said BrahMos officials. After the successful hit was secured by the Indian Navy, an Indian Air Force Su-30MKI aircraft armed with the air-launched version of the missile took off from an airbase and launched it at the same ship. The ship sank after the missile with warhead hit it directly.

More launches of the cruise missile are going to be held in near future, defense officials said, as reported by ANI
