Indian Army Pioneers AI-Powered Radar Innovation with New Patent

In a groundbreaking stride toward technological independence, the Indian Army has been awarded a patent for an innovative “Automatic Target Classifying System” driven by artificial intelligence (AI). Developed by Colonel Kuldeep Yadav, this cutting-edge system harnesses radar technology to autonomously detect and categorize targets, marking a significant leap forward in military operational capabilities.

The announcement, made by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) on September 10, 2025, underscores the Army’s commitment to fostering indigenous innovation under the “Atmanirbharta” (self-reliance) initiative.
A Game-Changer in Modern Warfare the newly patented system eliminates the need for human intervention, allowing for rapid and precise target identification in dynamic combat environments. By integrating advanced AI algorithms, the technology promises to enhance decision-making speed and accuracy, potentially reducing operational errors by a notable margin.
