J-K: Controlled IED Explosion Carried Out At Highway

An improvised explosive device (IED) was detected by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, coinciding with the visit to the union territory by envoys from 24 nations.

The IED explosion was later carried out in a controlled manner by a bomb disposal squad, which was called to the highway in Manjakote near Rajouri.

Earlier, a suspicious object was this morning found at the highway in Manjakote leading to panic.

As a precautionary measure, vehicular movement was stopped on the highway after the suspicious object was found.

It may be noted that 24 diplomats from foreign missions, including the European Union, landed in Srinagar today for a visit to the Kashmir and Jammu regions.
