In a significant counter-intelligence operation, the Indian Army’s intelligence units working alongside Rajasthan Police, have uncovered an alleged counterfeit military uniform supply network in Rajasthan’s border district of Sriganganagar. Authorities seized nearly 1,000 metres of unauthorized Army-pattern combat fabric during coordinated raids on multiple shops, raising fresh concerns over the illegal circulation of military clothing.
Crackdown Ahead of Independence Day
The operation comes as security agencies intensify vigilance ahead of Independence Day, when the risk of misuse of military-style uniforms by anti-national elements or criminal groups is considered higher. Sriganganagar, which shares a sensitive border with Pakistan, has long been viewed as a strategically important district, making the illegal sale of Army-pattern fabric a serious national security concern.
According to officials, the seized cloth closely resembled the Indian Army’s combat uniform pattern. Such material is not meant for unrestricted commercial sale, as unauthorized access could enable individuals to impersonate military personnel or facilitate other unlawful activities.
Wider Supply Network Under Scanner
Preliminary investigations suggest that the seized stock may have been part of a broader supply chain distributing counterfeit military uniform material to vendors across the region. Investigators are now examining procurement sources, distribution channels, and potential links to manufacturers or wholesalers involved in the illegal trade.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed the identities of those under investigation, and further legal action is expected as the probe progresses.
