Drone Spotted In RS Pura Sector Of J&K, Flies Back To Pak after BSF Firing
A drone was spotted at the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s RS Pura sector on Saturday night, the Border Security Force (BSF) said on Sunday.
The drone was spotted hovering in the skies by a BSF party on patrol duty in Arnia area of the RS Pura sector.
The BSF said the drone went back to Pakistan after security personnel fired upon it. A search operation has also been launched in the area.
Last week, drone movement was noticed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Pooch district in Jammu and Kashmir amid a surge in ceasefire violations by the Pakistani Army, according to sources.
Last month, the Indian Army shot down a Pakistan Army quadcopter along LoC in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district
Pakistan using drones to drop weapons in J&K
Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh had recently said that Pakistan is using cross-border underground tunnels to push terrorists into India and drones to drop weapons for them.
In September, Pakistan had dropped weapons and some cash in Indian currency using a drone in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
A similar attempt was foiled by the Border Security Force (BSF) along the International Border in Kathua district in June this year when a Pakistani drone carrying a sophisticated rifle and some grenades was shot down by the security personnel.
This was the first such incident in Jammu when a drone was used to drop arms and explosives in the region.
