DG Level Talks Between BSF And BGB Begin In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The 51st Director-General Level Talks between Border Security Force India and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has commenced on Tuesday in Guwahati, Assam. It is for the first time that the bi-annual Director-General Level Talks between the two Border guarding forces is taking place in Assam. The meeting will continue till December 26.

The delegation of Border Guard Bangladesh is being led by the DG BGB Maj Gen Shafeenul Islam and the BSF delegation is headed by the DG BSF Shri Rakesh Asthana, IPS. They will discuss various aspects and issues related to Border Management. They will also deliberate upon steps being taken to strengthen the security grid in a cohesive manner for the betterment of people living on the borders of both countries.BSF stated that the meeting will conclude with the signing of a Joint Record of Discussions by both the Directors’ General of BSF and BGB.

ABOUT BSF ?

The Border Security Force (BSF) is India’s Primary border guarding organization on its border with Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is one of the three Border Guarding Forces (BGF) of India, and was raised in the wake of the 1965 War on 1 December 1965, “for ensuring the security of the borders of India and for matters connected therewith”.Since independence, the protection of India’s international boundaries was the responsibility of local police belonging to each border state, with support from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other inter-state authorities.
