Four Children Killed in Pakistani Drone Strike in North Waziristan

In a shocking incident on Monday morning at approximately 6:30 AM, a Pakistani military drone struck a civilian home in Mir Ali village, North Waziristan, killing four children and injuring several women including a two-month-old baby.

This is not an isolated incident. On May 16, 2025, another drone strike by Pakistani security forces in Dera Ismail Khan injured more than eight children. These repeated attacks have sparked growing outrage among local communities.

Local residents have repeatedly complained that the Pakistani military, in the name of armed groups, are targeting civilian homes and killing civilians. The District Bar Association of North Waziristan condemned this attack; they declared a complete court strike tomorrow to protest against the act done by Pakistani security Forces.

Notable Incident of Civilian Killings

In recent years, Pakistan’s military has intensified its operations against rebel groups, but these efforts have also led to civilian casualties, raising concerns about the protocols governing such operations, their training, and their impact on local populations.

  • On March 29, 2025, Pakistani security forces conducted a drone strike in Katlang Tehsil, Mardan District, targeting suspected Tehreek-e-Taliban rebels. The military reported the elimination of 17 rebels. However, local sources and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government confirmed that nine civilians, including two women and two children from a nomadic shepherd family, were killed.
  • In May 2014, the Pakistani military launched airstrikes in the Waziristan region, targeting rebels’ hideouts. While the operation reportedly killed over 60 rebels, it also resulted in the deaths of at least 30 civilians
  • On 14 May, 2024, a missile fired by a drone struck a house in northwestern Pakistan along the Afghan border before dawn, killing at least four villagers, including children. The strike happened in South Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Despite claims of precision, the Pakistani military’s operations repeatedly result in civilian deaths, casting doubt on both its intelligence and intentions. Rather than demonstrating strength, these strikes expose a lack of accountability and strategic discipline.
