2 Indian Army Pilots Lost Their Lives In Cheetah Helicopter Crash

Two pilots lost their lives after an Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, Army officials said. The wreckage of the aircraft was found near the village of Banglajaap, east of Mandala.

Lt Col VVB Reddy and Major Jayanth A were the two pilots who lost their lives in the chopper crash.

The chopper was conducting an operational sortie near Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, when it reportedly lost contact with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at around 9.15 am, Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, PRO Defence Guwahati confirmed.

A Court of Inquiry is being ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.

“General Manoj Pande Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and All Ranks of Indian Army salute the supreme sacrifice of Lt Col VVB Reddy and Maj Jayanth A, in the line of duty at Arunachal Pradesh and express deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” tweeted Additional Directorate General of Public Information, Indian Army.
