MIG-21 Bison Crashes Rajasthan’s Barmer District, Pilot Ejects Safely

A MiG 21-Bison has crashed near Rajasthan’s Barmer during a training sortie. The pilot has ejected safely.  The fighter jet crashed suddenly at around 5:00 pm in Matasar village, 35 km from the Barmer district. Talking to Times Now, Barmer Superintendent of Police Anand Sharma said he received the information that the MiG has crashed, after which the police and administration team arrived at the spot.

As per the initial reports, Air Force officers from Uttarlai Air Force Station are reaching the spot by helicopter. With the fire brigade expected to arrive shortly, the villagers used water tankers to douse the fire and are also taking care of the pilot. Meanwhile, the IAF has ordered a court of inquiry to decide whether it was a mechanical or human failure. The crashed fighter jet was one of the refurbished MiG 21s.
