SSS Defence Delivers Upgrade Kits For The Indian Army’s AK-47 Rifles
Bangalore-based SSS defence, recently delivered the first consignments of Made In India upgrade kits for the Indian Army’s AK-47 rifles have been delivered to Para Special Forces units, as reported by Livefist
Stumpp Schuele & Somappa Defence (SSS Defence) is an Indian private sector company engaged in small arms manufacturing. It focuses not only on small arms but also on ammunition and other accessories related to small arms. The company came into focus when it presented it’s indigenously designed and developed sniper rifles.
Livefist had reported that the AK-47 upgrade package involves the integration of a rugged dust cover that fits without any external locking mechanism, a new tactical buttstock, a new gas tube, quad rail fore-end and a flash suppressor. This allows an optic to be mounted along the full-length rail along with an under-barrel grenade launcher (UBGL) on the bottom rail. According to SSS Defence, the package lowers recoil significantly and reduces the classic ‘pull up to the right’ traditional to the AK system.

The upgrade is made to be more user friendly and ergonomic by adding a tactical buttstock, cheek rest and butt pad so that the user has the advantage of customising the machine as per personal preferences. The ingeniously simple and rugged design of the dust cover provides a rock-solid mount for Picatinny rail-based optical sighting systems and the quick release hinge also allows the use of longer scopes without the need for quick detach mounts.
The Fore-end features quad rails made of Mil-Spec Aluminium Alloys that can mount accessories such as Night sights, UBGL, Torches, Laser aiming devices etc. For additional functionality, the handguard is also M-LOK compatible. The upgrade kit is completely made of Mil-spec components which can be field fitted with minimal tools & specialized effort.
