Why The Game Launched By IAF Lost Its Popularity In Short Span Of Time?
Do you remember the game that was launched by the Indian Air Force last year in the month of July? It gained so much popularity in a few hours after launching, that everyone was playing that game only. The game is available on Google Play Store and App Store for Android and IOS users by the name “Indian Air Force: A Cut Above”. It is a combat flight simulator game, which is available in single-player and multiplayer modes. Former Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa launched this game officially on July 31, 2019. Furthermore, The Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora released the multiplayer version of the game.
Note – Above personnel, whose names have been mentioned, were at the respective posts at the time of launching of the game. Now, Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria has taken the post of Air Chief Marshal.
Features Of The Game
In November 2019, Google selected the game to be a part of the Best Game of 2019 Awards. Though the game managed to find a position in top games in other categories but it was not able to win the best game award. It is a nice game, which is developed by Threye Interactice Pvt. Ltd. For mobile platforms. The game has high graphics and resolution settings. It features various aircraft used by Indian Air Force in its fleet. The game has many missions to enjoy. Various missions include Bombing operations, rescue operations by helicopter, and missions featuring chasing the enemy with fighter aircraft as well.
The game includes various levels. It has a training mode in which we can take a free flight and explore the game. The game is systematic though. It teaches the user to take off and then air-control, target hitting, and in the last landing on the runway. This game features a character similar to Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman as well. However, we can customize the character according to our interests. We can take a flight in MI-17 V5 helicopter, Mirage-2000, Rafale and Sukhoi-30 MKI, and many more.
Multiplayer mode includes the feature where around 5-6 players can form a team and compete against each other. This is a very interesting concept to add to give a nice experience to users.
Limitations Of The Game
Despite all these features, why did the game failed to impress everybody? Though the game features improved graphics compared to the previous version. But lack in good game controls. The missions added are up to the mark standards and lack in providing much entertainment. Game controls are also not very nice as they were expected. As a result, this makes this game somewhat old-fashioned. Moreover, the company has failed to provide the latest updates to the game. Multiplayer mode is again having many issues. The server of the game, which helps the players to connect in multiplayer mode, does have many bugs. Sometimes, the game stops suddenly in between.
Overall, the game developers have focused more on the graphics and the appearance of the game. They have not utilized the technology in the best possible way. Therefore, the game has not been able to match the standards of other modern mobile games.

However, I would suggest everybody try this game once at least. Indian Air Force is not a gaming company and therefore it is not expected to release high-quality games for us. We must appreciate their efforts. They have tried to inspire youth to know about the Indian Air Force by adding the Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman character.
