DRDO Test Fired Brahmos-ER Missile From INS Visakhapatnam

In a major boost to the Indian Navy’s firepower, India successfully test-fires advanced sea to sea variant of Extended range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from INS Visakhapatnam today. During the test, The missile hits the designated target ship precisely validating all mission parameters.

According to the sources, the missile was “test-fired at the maximum range and hit the target ship with pinpoint accuracy”. The test has been conducted as a part of a weapon system integration in newly commissioned INS Visakhapatnam.

Today’s test certifies the accuracy of the ship’s combat system & armament complex and also validates a new capability the missile provides the Navy & Nation. The Brahmos Extended Range is now 600km Approx.

By April 2013, Brahmos has been inducted into eight warships of the Indian Navy and four destroyers of Visakhapatnam-class are planned to be armed with two bow-mounted 8-cell Brahmos VLS launchers.
