Remove Link Showing Incorrect Map Of India, Govt Orders Wikipedia

The union government has ordered Wikipedia to remove a hyperlink on its sites that show an incorrect map of Jammu and Kashmir, media reports say. The order directing Wikipedia to remove the link was served under Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000.

The Ministry of Electronics and IT issued the order on 27 November 2020 following the issue being flagged by a Twitter user. Media reports say that government sources also asserted that the latter may initiate legal action against Wikipedia, including blocking access to the entire platform, if the links were not removed.
