India Busts Malaysia-Based Outfit’s Terror Attack Plot

In a positive development, the Indian intelligence establishment has successfully intercepted crucial financial transactions with links to Islamist televangelist Zakir Naik in connection with a Malaysia-based Rohingya terror group’s likely plans to orchestrate a terror attack in India, reports Times of India.

The intelligence agencies have uncovered a thread of suspicious transactions to the tune of Rs 2 lakh dollars which have been traced to Naik and Rohingya leader Mohammed Naseer. The intel documents also state that a Chennai-based suspect, probably a hawala dealer, had received a part of the sum.

As per the intelligence, a woman-led group of the terror outfit, which has been trained in Myanmar, is likely to attempt a strike in an Indian city in the weeks to come. The intelligence establishment has issued an alert to the security agencies in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to step up surveillance.

The likely targets of the group could be Ayodhya, Bodhgaya, Punjab and Srinagar.

The intelligence suggests that the group was to infiltrate into India in the middle or end of December through Bangladesh.

It is believed by the intelligence establishment that a few conduits of the Popular Front of India (PFI) could extend support to the group for logistics.
