Rajnath Singh Inaugurates BrahMos Missile Facility in Lucknow

May 11, 2025 – Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated a state-of-the-art BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Center in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, marking a significant milestone in India’s journey toward self-reliance in defence manufacturing. The facility, part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UP DIC), was launched amid heightened military tensions with Pakistan, underscoring its strategic importance. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the inaugural ceremony in Lucknow, while Singh joined from New Delhi via video conferencing.

The 200-acre BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Center in Lucknow will have integration of Booster subassemblies, Avionics, Propellant, Ramjet engines. The program center with Design & Administrative blocks are also being planned in the complex.

The approx. Rs 300 crore complex will pave the way for skill development for industry and entrepreneurs in a long way. The entire defence ecosystem of ancillary and sub-assemblies will be developed in the vicinity to support the complex. It will help in a big way in the industrialization and skill development of students of ITI, Supervisors, Engineers. It will ensure that people are not forced to migrate to look for job opportunities.

Brahmos Aerospace has selected 36 trainees for the operation of the facility. Five of these newly selected trainees were felicitated by the UP Chief Minister as part of the inauguration.

Speaking at the inauguration, Rajnath Singh highlighted the significance of the event coinciding with National Technology Day, commemorating India’s 1998 nuclear tests in Pokhran under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “The BrahMos missile is not just a weapon; it is a message of the strength of our armed forces, a deterrent to our enemies, and a commitment to safeguarding our borders,” Singh said. He also referenced the ongoing “Operation Sindoor,” describing it as a demonstration of India’s resolve against terrorism, with the BrahMos missile playing a pivotal role in recent strategic operations.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, addressing the gathering, confirmed the BrahMos missile’s use in “Operation Sindoor” against Pakistani targets, marking its first combat deployment. “If you haven’t seen the valour of BrahMos, ask Pakistan about its strength,” he remarked, emphasizing the missile’s role in India’s defence strategy. Yogi also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh, and the armed forces for the operation’s success, noting that the facility aligns with the “Make in India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives
