Apply Now: AFCAT 1 2020 Notification, Exam Date and Eligibility Criteria

Hello Defence Lovers, Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced AFCAT 1 exam dates 2020. Candidates who wish to join the IAF can register themselves for the exam now. Candidates who are interested in AFCAT 2020 can find full details related to AFCAT 1 2020 below.

Important Dates:

Starting Date of Online Application: 1 December 2019

Last Date to Apply: 30 December 2019

Admit Card: January 2020

 Exam Date: 22 Feb 2020 and 23 Feb 2020

Result Date Declaration: March 2020

Eligiblity Criteria:

Age Limit: 

  • For Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2021 i.e. born between 02 January 1997 to 01 January 2001. (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years i.e. born between 02 January 1995 to 01 January 2001 (both dates inclusive).
  • For Ground Duty Technical: 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2021 i.e. born between 02 January 1995 to 01 January 2001 (both dates inclusive).
  • For Ground Duty Non-Technical:  20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2021 i.e. born between 02 January 1995 to 01 January 2001 (both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification

For Flying Branch: A graduate candidate with minimum 60% marks and must have scored minimum 60%marks in Maths and Physics in 10+2 in 12th standard.

  •  B.Tech/ B.E candidates who have scored minimum 60% marks and have scored 60% marks in maths and physics in 10+2 in 12th standard are also eligible for it.

For Ground Duty Technical: The candidate must have B.Tech/ B.E degree in notified streams as mentioned in the official notification of the IAF with minimum 60% marks and have scored minimum 60% marks in Physics and Maths in 10+2 standard are eligible for technical entry.

Ground Duty Non-Technical: 

  • For Administration and Logistics Branch – Graduation degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
  • For Accounts Branch – B.Com Degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
  • For Education Branch – Post graduate degree (MBA / MCA or MA / M Sc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International relations / International Studies / Defence Studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT /Management / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relation) with minimum 50% marks, along with minimum 60% marks in graduation.

How to Apply

  • Aspirants for IAF are required to apply online by using the link, or Aadhaar Card is mandatory for online registration. Detailed instructions for filling in the online application form are appended below:-
  •  Applicants need to exercise utmost care while filling in the online application. In case any information is found to be incorrect, the candidature is liable to be cancelled at any stage of the selection process. Please verify the correctness of information entered in all the fields before proceeding with the “Make Payment” option. Applicants will not be able to edit the previous details entered after the selection of “Course Preferences” step and after the “Make Payment” step.
  • If an applicant has submitted more than one application, only the latest submitted application form against a particular Aadhaar Number, will be considered for issue of Admit Card. However, the fee deposited while filling additional applications will not be refundable.
  • Applicants will be required to complete the process of Online Application form which will have the following sequences.

(i) Click “CANDIDATE LOGIN’’ on the Home page- leads to AFCAT Sign-in.

(ii) In the next page, applicants to click “NOT YET REGISTERED? REGISTER HERE”.

(iii) Sign Up: Creation of Log-in ID and applicant will receive a password in his/her registered email id.

(iv) After successful registration, sign-in with registered email id and system generated password.

(v) Reset Password- Log-Out (candidates must remember their login ID and password for future use during the examination process).

(vi) Fresh Log-in.


(viii) Click “INSTRUCTIONS”. Read Instructions carefully.

(ix) Acknowledgement of having read and understood instructions- Check box to proceed to next stage.
