Chopper Ferrying Officers Back From CCC Makes Emergency Landing

An Army chopper made an emergency landing in Gujarat’s Kheda district on Saturday due to a technical snag. None of the passengers, including an Army Lieutenant General, were injured in the incident, said police officials.

The chopper took off from Kevadia in Narmada district on Saturday morning after the conclusion of the three-day Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC). Among its passengers were an Army Lieutenant General, an AOC Officer, and a colonel along with two pilots and a technician.

Officials familiar with the incident say the chopper made an emergency landing in an open farm near the road at Veena village in Gujarat’s Kheda district. The area has now been cordoned off.

Confirming the same, Kheda SP Divya Mishra told news agency PTI, “The chopper, carrying three Army officers including a Lieutenant General, two pilots and a technician from Kevadia in Narmada district to Ahmedabad, made an emergency landing in an open field at Veena village between Nadiad and Mahudha in Kheda district due to hydraulic oil leakage.”

Organized at Tent City near the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, the Combined Commanders’ Conference was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. This was the first CCC during PM Modi’s second term in office. With the Indian Army as the host service, the CCC was attended by officers of the three services holding the rank of commander in chief. During the conference, presentations were made to showcase the progress made in theatre commands by respective departments.
